From the recording Clear
Leah wrote "Clear" while climbing a mountain. She had been going through a season of doubt and constant business. During a weekend in Yosemite with friends, she found the slowness of pace to be refreshing. While hiking the entire Upper Yosemite falls trail, which brought her to one of the highest points in the park, her head finally felt clear. It was a reminder that all of her hard work would be worth it in the end. As she was climbing, melodies and lyrics would come into her head and she'd climb around a switchback and record them on her phone so she wouldn't forget them. When she came home from the trip, she spent the week recording the song in her living room.
The sounds of the city are starting to take me/ Like memories stuck in a traffic jam
I feel the warmth of the sun but it’s cloudy/ I’m starting to think this is just who I am
And so I’ll leave I’ll climb this mountain and I’ll never give it up
I know the path ahead is treacherous but I’ll get to the top
Where it’s clear/ So clear/ Everything I see/ All the air I breathe
Yeah it’s clear/ So clear/ I am finally free/ It’s so clear to me now
I tried to be good so I left my mind open/ They said there’s nothing wrong with that
But everyone came and they put new thoughts in it/ ‘Til all the stars I once saw were gone again
But up here above the clouds of different thoughts I see the stars
And the more I look the less I wonder where you really are
‘Cause it’s clear/ So clear/ All my worries/ They’re so small to me
Yeah it’s clear/ So clear/ I am finally free/ It’s so clear to me now
I see the sun/ I see the shadows/ I see where I lost my way
I see that it’s a brand new day
There may be ice/ There may be snow/ Still not as cold as hearts below
The city’s lights won’t warm them though
Oh but up here/ It’s so clear
Yeah it’s clear/ So clear/ I am finally free/ It’s so clear to me now
I see the sun/ I see the shadows/ I see where I lost my way
I see that it’s a brand new day
There may be ice/ There may be snow/ Still not as cold as hearts below
The city’s lights won’t warm them though
I see the sun/ I see the shadows/ I see where I lost my way
I see that it’s a brand new day
There may be ice/ There may be snow/ Still not as cold as hearts below
The city’s lights won’t warm them though
